Why Does a Competitor Show 0 Points?
There are two main reasons a competitor's score shows 0:
- AI is genuinely not mentioning that brand in responses to monitored queries
- The registered brand name doesn't match how AI writes it in responses, so the match fails
① When AI Is Not Mentioning the Competitor
This means the competitor brand isn't appearing in AI responses to your monitored queries. Possible reasons include insufficient GEO strategy by the competitor, or a mismatch between the queries you're monitoring and the competitor's target domain.
In this case, the 0 score is not a registration issue — it reflects the competitor's weak AI presence. This can be useful data showing your advantage.
② When the Brand Name Doesn't Match
Genview's competitor matching uses exact text matching. If the registered brand name differs from how AI writes it in responses, the match fails and the score shows 0.
Common examples:
- Japanese brand names in katakana vs. Latin characters (e.g., registered as "ティアジオ" but AI writes "TierGEO")
- Hyphenation or capitalization differences (e.g., "Tier-GEO" vs. "TierGEO")
- Presence or absence of legal suffixes (e.g., "Inc." or "株式会社")
How to Fix It
Check the actual AI response text in the dashboard to see how the competitor's brand is written, then re-register using that exact spelling. For Japanese brand names containing katakana or hyphens, brand name registration is recommended over URL registration.
